About Dr. Parent
Thomas Parent, MD, received his undergraduate degree from Notre Dame University. A stellar student, he was also involved in collegiate sports as a varsity ice hockey team member for three years, winning the university’s monogram recognition for varsity athletics.
Dr. Parent completed his medical training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he worked for the transplant team as a coordinator for organ procurement during his final two years.
His orthopedic fellowship training took place at the Medical University of South Carolina, completing general surgery and orthopedic surgery internships. He also won the Resident’s Research Award during his fourth year, having his work accepted for presentation at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in San Francisco.
Dr. Parent spent five years as a partner in the Wilmington Orthopedic Group in Wilmington, NC. He was a team physician for women’s athletics at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Cape Fear Academy. Also, he provided monthly orthopedic care for New Hanover County’s Indigent Children clinic and United Cerebral Palsy of Wilmington.
Dr. Parent completed a hand, upper extremity, and microvascular fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
